Maltese Limestone

These semi-abstract figures form part of a series inspired by Guatamalen and Mexican folklore - there is a story of the Maya princess (‘Ixmucane’) - The princess received a special gift from the sun god that allowed her to solve any problem a human could worry about. The worry doll represents the princess and her wisdom. The tradition of worry dolls still continues today - children are given little hand-made dolls to tell their worries to, place them under their pillows at night, and by morning, the worry dolls have taken their worries away. This charming story inspired me to create my own collection stone´worry dolls´ that can also be used as a source of contemplation, wisdom and strength.
